Gorgeous STARET Clown, Mask, Harlequin, Jester Recast, Copy, Replica Brooch pin illegibly signed STARET

This is a recast of a Gorgeous Highly desirable and Rare STARET Clown Head mask type brooch that dates to 1942.
THIS IS A REPLICA of a STARET piece.
Excellent Vintage condition. As these replicas are now over 20 years old, they are Vintage in their own right.
It does appear that someone has tried to scratch out the STARET mark that Roberta cast into the piece,
see the photo of the back, otherwise amazing condition.


This is NOT an original STARET but a Re-Cast made by Roberta Barnes years ago.
Roberta was famous for her reproductions or as she called them RECAST.
She always made them a little different from the originals.
I have included a photo of the Recast next to the Original photo in the Brunialti American Costume Jewelry Book so you can see the very subtle variation.
It is hard to tell which one is the original, it is the one on the left
I have also included an advertisement for the original piece.
I believe Roberta's recasts have a huge following as they were all hand made and never represented by her as originals.
I purchased these from a well known dealer who also bought from Roberta.
Sadly she has now passed, but her legacy lives on through these pieces.

This particular piece surfaced from a dealer friend in Central Florida this spring.
Roberta lived between Florida and North Carolina.
Her son lived in Central Florida and sold off her remaining inventory after her passing.

It is Not Sterling. This does have the gold plating.
