I am happy to present this wonderfully fun and rare Little Girl "crib toy" by artist Jan Carlin.
Jan Carlin is the foremost Bakelite jewelry designer recycling vintage lucite and bakelite pieces into fine Retro pieces of jewelry. She has been known to set her pieces with real diamonds and gold.
This gal wearing a stylized reverse carved Lucite button hat. Her Head is a lovely reclaimed painted wood with added celluloid hoops for earrings., her body consistes of 2 pieces of carved Lucite separated by a yellowish marbled disc and a red disc. She also has a cute little neck ring with a dangle. Her arms are clear Lucite clinders capped with Bakelite dome on top and scalloped discs on top and bottom, her hands are crescent shaped. Cute Long legs of multicolored Bakelite beads ending with black washer shaped disc feet.. These Figurals with Lucite pieces are not as common as the all Bakelite figurals. This piece is 8 inches tall, her head is 1.5 inches across,Lucite upper body piece is 2 inches across and 3/4 inch thick, very nice! th This little lady has a sweet personality, and one can easily see the allure of her google eyes and mixed material composition she has to advanced collectors. Iris Apfel had many of Jan's creations in her incredible collection. She is a nice large statement piece indeed and sits just as well as a decorative item on a shelf as he does upon one's lapel.
I have a new collection of about a dozen of these recently acquired from Jan Carlin that will be listed this week.
I use small doll stands to display my Jan Carlin Figurals. I can provide the information to order them.
